Impact
By addressing usability challenges and streamlining the booking process, this redesign proposal aligns with industry benchmarks for hotel website performance:
Improved User Flow → Hotel websites typically rank in the 76th percentile for user experience (SUPR-Q), but leading brands like Hyatt achieve scores as high as 93% for usability. This redesign applies similar UX principles to improve navigation and clarity.
Increased Direct Bookings → The average hotel website conversion rate is 1-3%, meaning even small design improvements can lead to significant revenue increases. This optimized booking flow reduces friction and encourages direct bookings.
Better User Engagement → Research shows that personalized and visually engaging content increases time spent on a page and reduces bounce rates. The improved room overviews and interactive design elements help users find relevant information faster.

The design
The goal was to create a streamlined and intuitive interface while preserving the hotel's inviting and playful character. This balance was achieved through organic, dynamic shapes paired with a harmonized color palette.
Deep greens and navy blues bring a sense of sophistication, while soft yellows and pinks add warmth and playfulness. These colors weren’t chosen randomly: they were inspired by the hotel’s interior, ensuring a seamless digital-to-physical experience. This approach makes the interface feel like a natural extension of the guest experience: welcoming, cohesive, and reflective of what awaits upon arrival.

What I learned
This project reinforced the importance of balancing playful aesthetics with clear and intuitive usability. Designing a booking flow showed how small details, like pricing visibility and direct CTAs, impact user confidence and decision-making. Competitive analysis and usability testing revealed key gaps that competitors hadn’t fully addressed, highlighting the value of research-driven design.
Moving forward
I want to refine how progressive disclosure, trust signals, and personalization can further streamline the booking process. Strengthening iterative testing methods will ensure user feedback shapes every stage of design. This project also deepened my interest in conversion-focused UX, particularly how design choices influence direct bookings and engagement
